The Secret
With their plainly false accusations, you can't be Jesus to these people at work, can you?
A river of tears – My eyes were tired and swollen from weeping. I was in deep agony. I was cursing them in my mind. “Those craps...” that was how I reacted.
I suffered a lot in the workplace. Several colleagues despised me as much as my students showered me with love. I was stabbed, labeled, ridiculed, and was the victim of rumors being spread around like virus. And the oddest thing there was, everything was plainly false accusation. I was simply the “lucky” recipient of their vile mouths.
Hold grudges? Been there. Take revenge? I had thought of that.
What about forgive? Accept? Love?
“Come to me and I will give you rest.”
I waited. God did it for me. Gradually, He healed my wounds. I obliged and clung to His promise of victory. LOVE – He would constantly remind me to look at my bashers with affection. Moments of doubt would sometimes creep in, but He remained faithful to His promise to me.
Yes, the excruciating pain made it difficult to work peacefully in the workplace. The feeling of being haunted of crimes you had not committed really sucked.
But I survived. Yes, I survived triumphantly.
The secret? Love. Seeing with the eyes of Jesus seemed an impossible feat then, but it was love that transformed the monster in me. It was the silent prayer and humility that had them loosen their guard. It was the beautiful truth that gave me peace amid the raging storm.
Circumstances like I told you frequent the workplace, causing division, strife, and suffering. But with kindness and love as anchors, anything impossible becomes a possibility, even with the hardest of the hearts. Any Professional Learning Community (PLC) can't work without collaboration, that which requires an honest assessment of one’s care for the company and that of colleagues. Relationships are built, which stems from the very core of the administration or management itself. The vision coupled with the company’s mission becomes a reality with everyone’s faithful service. And ideally, no one stays behind the curtains.
All of us have varied work conditions with colleagues coming in with different agendas. Miscommunication is sure to happen and arguments are inevitable. True. But there’s always hope. Yes, only if we truly love and respect one another no matter who, no matter what. Then we are no longer employees; we are collaborators.
