I See You, Lord
“I see You, Lord in sorrow and in happiness.
I see You in the glory of sweet success.
I see You, Lord every hour every day.
I can see You, Lord whenever I pray.”
I first heard this song three years ago, sweetly sung by a student in the school where I am currently working. I fell in love with the song right away and found myself hastily landing on the world of LSS (Last Song Syndrome).
Two years after, it became my favorite song for the Lord. It was when I was struggling to breathe, holding on to dear life for the devastation that those unprecedented circumstances had placed me into. It has been God’s lullaby to me since then.
Apparently, it taught me one thing – to see God in every chapter of my life. Gone were the feel good days when I was safely tucked into my mother’s bosom. Living independently means facing things squarely and bearing the breastplate of courage and willpower. A single tear would prove useless if it means giving up. To whom do I cling to? To God, to my Father, to Papa Lord as I fondly call Him.
Trusting God and seeing Him amidst tribulations will never be easy if our heart isn’t settled into putting Him at the pedestal. Our human heart naturally would choose to wail and lament over things that don’t go our way. Smashing stuff and cursing and flaming and swearing on Facebook can easily get in the way, getting even perhaps can be our consolation for broken trusts, and turning away from God to “hurt” Him can be our last resort. It might work for quite a while, but only for the ruin of one’s soul.
Simply put, no trial can knock us down if we just hold on to God and see Him amid adversity. “It’s damn difficult,” one might say; but if we put ourselves in the right perspective, nothing becomes impossible to achieve.
“The eye through which I see God is the same eye through which God sees me; my eye and God’s eye are one, one seeing, one knowing, one love.” – Meister Eckhart, Sermons of Meister Eckhart
